Our contact solutions train athletes to execute safe and effective tackling by leveraging a proven, integrated process. These include phases and elements focusing on proper alignment, understanding assignment, closing distance, establishing leverage, changing levels, transitioning to the power position, etc. This results in a tackle that eliminates the head from contact and takes the opponent to the ground.
Our solutions use the practice of "high resistance, low contact." We emulate contact by manipulating the resistance an athlete encounters. We use resistance bands, medicine balls, sandbags, or bodyweight to create resistance and force. This is purposeful practice without the inherent risk of "thud or live" tackling.
Our solutions follow USA football guidance on the Levels of Contact. Levels of Contact are used to adjust contact intensity and duration to best meet the objective of development. Click below to learn more.
Shoulder tackling is the foundational practice of our solution. We train to remove the head from contact.
We teach 3 phases of contact: pre-contact, contact, post-contact.
We train 3 types of shoulder tackles: form (profile), thigh and drive, wrap and roll.
We train to the following techniques but not limited to: stance, read step, track the near hip, establish leverage, secure near foot near shoulder position, maximize the shoulder strike area, extend the hips, clamp, drive the opponent to the ground.
With the participation of two or more athletes, we have the ability to train dynamic decision making, emulate game like scenarios, conduct contact circuits, and strength and conditioning.
Individual coaching sessions focus on all phases, types, and techniques. These sessions are 60 minutes in duration using 2 levels of contact – air and bags.
POD coaching sessions focus on all phases, types, and techniques. They include advanced elements such as dynamic decision making. These sessions are 90 minutes in duration using 3 levels of contact – air, bags, and controlled contact.
Group coaching sessions focus on all phases, types, and techniques. They include advanced elements such as contact circuits. These sessions are 120 minutes in duration using 3 levels of contact – air, bags, and controlled contact
